The New-Old Face In The Vpop World-Anna Truong! Wait..Who??

Yep, just as the title suggested, we have a new but old face in the Viet music Industry--Anna Truong.

 

Doesn't she remind you of someone? Perhaps someone who is a very famous Viet singer??  Yup, you've guessed it! She is My Linh's daughter!  For those who are fans of My Linh, you probably know or heard of Anna.  

What Happens When The Most Popular Idol...Isn't So Popular Anymore?

Vietnam's Idol 2011 Uyen Linh had disappeared for awhile after the show ended, everyone has been wondering what she's been up to with her life.

Thu Thuy's Big Come Back "Rieng Minh Toi"

I have been anxiously waiting for Thu Thuy's "Rieng Minh Toi" MV after seeing the cool trailer.  It was finally released today and I couldn't wait to show you guys ^^ From what I know, Thu Thuy flew all the way to Ha Noi to work on this song with song writer Luu Thien Huong.  She is a very dedicated singer and she only wants to release her best works.  Here is the video, enjoy! :)

I really like this video, especially her makeup.  She does look a bit scary but this look is very unique.  I noticed that she lost weight but overall I think she looks very pretty in here.  Although I do like the video, I gotta say that I'm not very impressed with the song.  It's not catchy enough for me.  Plus I think Thu Thuy only sounds good in those pop ballad songs, leave this type of music to Hoang Thuy Linh ^^

Is Ho Ngoc Ha's "Invincible" Convincable?

As mentioned sometime last week, Ho Ngoc Ha has a new MV out and it was officially released on October 17, 2011.  Some of you might have seen it on Youtube already, and if you haven't, here's the MV:

 

What was your first impression after seeing this MV? Honestly, after all the hype from the MV promotion, I had higher expectation. I mean, the graphic is great and all and Ho Ngoc Ha looks stunning even though she's an alien.  However; the storyline just didn't make much sense to me, and maybe it's not supposed to make sense?  Maybe it was just supposed to be a "cool" video with awesome high-tech graphics?  If that was the purpose, then yes, Ho Ngoc Ha had successfully done that since there aren't that many MVs such as this one in the Viet Pop Industry.  

I know Ho Ngoc Ha is a great dancer and she does practice very hard on her dancing, but I just thought the choreography for this song in this MV in particular is not very appealing to me.  Thought they (HNH & Hoang Thong Dance Team) did a better job in the choreography on stage.

Vietnam's First Homosexuality Movie "Hot Boy Loi Loan"

       The most anticipated movie of the year "Hot Boy Loi Loan" directed by Ho Ngoc Dang was finally released on October 14, 2011.  This movie is Vietnam's first movie about homosexuality and prostitution- two very sensitive topics.  The movie plays around two stories:
       The first one is of the overbearing love story about two boys: Khoa (Ho Vinh Khoa) and Lam (Luong Manh Hai).  The second story is about the heartbreaking life story of a prostitute, Hong (Phuong Thanh) and Cuoi the mute guy (Hieu Hien).  Although the two stories are quite different, but they both portray how society view people of those two categories (Homosexual and prostitute).

This movie portrays two very sensitive topics in our society and it has touched many viewers on many different levels.  Not only that, this movie also has many "hot scenes" which attracted many people.  Critics rated this movie very high and many celebs also praise this movie.  I cannot wait to watch it!  The trailer looks good!

Charlie-Johnny's New Collab "Cuoi Ngay Keo Lo"

           Charlie Nguyen's recent movie "Long Ruoi" hit theater not long ago and it was a big hit! (gained 2 million USD in revenue).  I was in Vietnam at the time and had the chance to watch the movie myself and let me tell you, that movie was worth every penny!  I actually went to see it twice o.O
          I'm not sure when the DVD will be released yet, while waiting here is the trailer for those of you who are curious:

After a big success of the comedy "Long Ruoi", Charlie is on the go for another comedy/romance movie which will begin shooting on the 20th of November (2011).  The male lead for this movie is no stranger, it's Johnny Tri Nguyen.  The other casts are still kept a secret until the concept of the movie is set and stone.

       "Cuoi Ngay Keo Lo" plays around the love life of a young girl, who is faced with many decisions ahead of her.  Just like everyone else, she is constantly looking for true love.  How is she going to her true love when she is faced with many temptations on the way?    The movie will include many comical and surprising scenes so stay tuned!

      I know we are all very anxious for the movie to begin filming, and I hope this movie will be as great as Charlie's previous movies.  The movie will be released sometime late April of 2012 (Such a long time from now :( )

Dong Nhi & Ong Cao Thang are dating!

Sorry to the admirers of both Dong Nhi & Ong Cao Thang but they are officially a couple (seems like they are!)! They are already wearing caps with each other's first initial embroidered on them! Now I know that the majority of Vietnamese celebrities are very private about their romantic life but come on, look at them! They look very comfortable around each other, the way their eyes meet, and most importantly, their body language says it all :)

In the MV Co nhung yeu thuong nao, singer Dong Nhi has "pulled" (insisted) Ong Cao Thang in her MV as the main actor. Dong Nhi and Ong Cao Thang not only film some of the most romantic scenes but they also wearing matching shirts & caps with each other's first initial embroidered on them in the MV.

As Dong Nhi has promised her fans, the official trailer of her MV Co Nhung Yeu Thuong will be out some time this month. And here it is! Enjoy the MV trailer!

They look pretty darn good together, don't ya think? Lets put all the jealousy & hatred aside (if you happen to be one of their hardcore fans) and be happy for this gorgeous couple!

The Best of Friends in Viet Showbiz

         Good friends are hard to find, especially for celebrities.  Showbiz is a complicated world, there are people who come and go, people who have hidden motives, people who use one another to be famous.  But besides all those negative connotations, good friendships do exist.  Let's start with the first pair!

Quang Vinh & Ly Quy Khanh

We all know Quang Vinh as a singer, well what does his bestfriend do?  Ly Quy Khanh is an interior designer, a fashion designer, and a businessman.  People sometimes mistaken Ly Quy Khanh as Quang Vinh's assistant since the two are together quite often! 

Hoai Linh & Dam Vinh Hung

It's no surprised that these two big stars are the best of friends.  They appear together many times, not only on stage but also off stage.  They are so close to the point that Hoai Linh's parents have taken Dam Vinh Hung as their godson! Not only that, Dam Vinh Hung is also Hoai Linh's younger brother's (Duong Trieu Vu) mentor.  

Ho Ngoc Ha & Thanh Hang (My favorite pair!)

Although one is a famous singer and one is a supermodel, they both started out as models.  Most people won't think that they're best friends since they don't usually work together; however, they often go shopping and travel together.  

Le Hieu & Lee Nguyen

Le Hieu is a big soccer fan therefore most of his friends are soccer players.  He is especially close with the Vietnamese American soccer player-Lee Nguyen.  The two often party together and Le Hieu also shares many of their pictures on his Facebook!  (Lee Nguyen is a cutie isn't he?? :P)

Last but not least Jennifer Pham & Lan Huong

We already know who Jennifer Pham is, but who is Lan Huong?  Well, being so gorgeous, of course she is a supermodel.  The two became close after starring in a movie together.  Although they haven't known each other for that long, but the two always hang out at events and go shopping together.

Vietnam's Next Top Model 2011

          After a huge success of Vietnam's Next Top Model season 1, we're about to witness another load of 21 girls competing with each other to be on top.  This year, the girls get to stay in a stunning villa for a week to get to know each other.  After that they will be transferred to another house where the real competition begins.  I can already sense the catty-ness in the house!

          I'm assuming the real controversy that will go on in the house is the separation of the northern girls and the southern girls.  Since the competition is being held in HCMC (Saigon), the northern girls will take awhile to adapt to this new environment while the southern girls will be more comfortable in the house.

Singer Thu Thuy going through excruciating pain!

I have been such a huge fan of singer Thu Thuy ever since I was little. I grew up listening to her music and have watched her progressed so much from being in the band May Trang, to joining the band H.A.T, and now singing independently. Her music is always so unique and the videos are always great.

But with her new single coming out, I am afraid she is working way too hard and she seems to be losing way too much weight! Looking at her really hurts!

Followed by her soon to be released single Rieng Minh Toi, singer Thu Thuy shared a video clip recording the entire process of making the this single.

In this video clip, fans will get to witness the recording process in Ha Noi under songwriter Luu Thien Huong's guidance. Along with that, Thu Thuy spent a lot of time and effort learning the dance moves for her song "Rieng Minh Toi" with dance team Buoc Nhay. During the dance rehearsals, Thu Thuy was injured countless times.

Even when they were getting ready to record her music video and doing photoshoots for the single, the excruciating pain in the foot crawled its way back--making it impossible for Thu Thuy to work. However, since everything was already planned out with specific schedules, Thu Thuy had to bite her teeth and endure the pain.

Thu Thuy shared: "These injuries hurt really badly, but seeing the good outcomes of the products really make Thuy happy. This is the product that Thuy has worked really hard for so I hope it will satisfy everyone".

She looks almost unrecognizable to me! She has gotten so thin. What do you guys think?
